A Dad Trapped In A Mommy Blog World

As I was trying to fall asleep last night my mind kept running like it normally does before I drift off into the slumber world, we as parents, have grow to love.  Usually my mind is constantly running ideas of the next great Cub Scout event we are planning for the 42 surrogate sons I have "adopted" by committing to be Cubmaster (screw you Duggers, 19 is nothing...of course I send them home after the meetings).  Not last night though, I had only two thoughts bouncing around in my brain:

1.  Don't forget your vitamins in the morning you moron.

 And

2.  I'm a Dad trapped in a Mommy Blog world.

Yesterday I was awarded the Liebster Award (origin unknown it seems) from Blondie of Blondie McBaffled, thanks again!  I did my duty and nominated 5 blogs who have less than 200 followers and notified them.  After I was done posting, I did some searching, every blog that I follow is a "mommy blog" to an extent (with the exception of Funny Odd Thing, Life..., that's a friend of mine who lives in London with his partner).

I enjoy all of the blogs I follow, if I didn't I wouldn't be following them...duh and each has a different perspective on being a parent, life in general or some sort of sick humor.  I think we all do this as an outlet so that we don't murder anyone.

I did some blog stalking after I read them and 99.9% of them lead to "mommy blogs" and then those lead to more "mommy blogs".  Interesting....  Now I did stumble upon some Dad's out there, The Simple Dude is one, very good read, I would recommend it. There are few others that I came across like myself and The Simple Dude, but they are few and far between.  In fact (***DISCLAIMER***, there is nothing wrong with this) most of them seem to be Mommy's trapped in a Daddy body.  I know everyone has their own hobbies and such but I'm not so sure about guys who crochet or quilt.

At first I was like, "Holy Hell Batman!  Are my gay friends rubbing off on me?"  (Ohhhhh bad choice of words there Kev...)  Then I had another Magic Hat #9 and settled down, no that's not it, I realized that the "Mommy Blogs" I read are twisted and in some cases deranged, stemming off of People I Want To Punch In The Throat.  There is nothing wrong with having a similar sense of humor, similar outlooks on life and similar tastes in reading.  Notice I used the word "similar" and not "same", there is now way we could have the same things, they are females I am male, boys have a penis, girls have a vagina.

With that being said, I am happy where I am in the blogosphere, my minions keep growing, my page views keep going up, I must be doing something right.  However I will leave you with some of my favorite pictures I have stumble upon, just to keep my manhood in tact.

Word....yo...

If you don't get it, you never will.
I repeat, if you don't get it, you never will.
Oh, that is the droid I'm looking for.

  1. Ha ha! Kevin, I too find myself trapped in a mommy blog world and 'dem bitches be craazy!'

And now back to my stoic British self.
I actually came across your blog last week and already had it bookmarked. So when Blondie mentioned you, I thought it was time to do some reading. And I'm so glad that I did. :)

  2. Most of the blogs I follow are technically mommy blogs, but they are funny, ranting, mommy blogs. I have read a few of the "I am a perfect over achieving mommy blogs" and they usually make me vomit. I like haveing a dad's point of view so I am happy to have found you.

  3. If I didn't know better, I'd think you were calling me sick, twisted or deranged, and I'd have to say "Thanks for noticing!" It's the blogs that make me think "No they didn't just go there!" that I find myself coming back to for the laughs. We need more penis people in the mix! Keep up the great work!
